Commanding Balance: How one woman achieves stability between home, work, and self-care.

Updated: May 6, 2019

Whether you are single or a parent, one day you will have to determine how to balance things like career, school, family, and your well-being. This sit-down interview with Dr. Christine Wu is enlightening as she speaks about recognizing your talents early, negotiating career choices, and reserving precious time for family and wellness.

Christine details how she identified her gifts and talents way back in middle school and focused on pursuing her dream of one day becoming a pediatrician. This was particularly interesting for me since Iv'e dedicated much of my life to helping students identify their strengths and talents early. Christine shares the courses she pursued all the way through medical school, and even how she encountered some gender bias but did not let it stop her. She focused on her goal with the support of family and mentors. Add a husband, relocation, three kids, and a desire to maintain a career left her with some choices to make. Listen to how Dr. Christine Wu negotiated her work schedule after being told it was impossible. Take notes on what she does to nurture her marriage and self-care to command balance.

Dr. Wu, keep taking care of you so you can take care of all the people who depend on you.
